The South African Communist Party in Gauteng together with Cosatu and the Lenasia Residents Committee today said they are severely affected by the lack of houses and land residential purposes.

The Department of Human Settlements has been called to intervene and address the housing situation on a short to medium and long term basis.

SACP Spokesperson Lucian Segami said there is a deepening housing crisis in Gauteng and also in the country.

Segami said they do acknowledge progress made by the Department and government to fight corruption, but urgent attention is needed in the province, especially on awarding of tenders.
