SACP to protest with Lenasia residents in Gauteng

The South African Communist Party will be staging a protest at the National Department of Human Settlement in support of the people of Lenasia and Gauteng communities affected by the housing crisis. 

SACP said the purpose of the march is to pledge support and solidarity with the people of Lenasia whose houses were demolished towards the end of last year. 

SACP Provincial Secretary Mamabolo Jacob said they have seen settlements in destroyed by fires, and have seen protest marches turn violent in the province from people demanding houses.

“There are problems of high levels of corruption in the allocation of houses; all these issues, building on the Lenasia issue, will be presented to the Department of Human Settlement to ensure that we have a speedy resolutiom” Jacob added.
