The Eastern Cape Health Department has confirmed the death of another person who was involved in the lab blast last week in Port Elizabeth.

Six people have died and fourteen people were injured and are being treated for several burn wounds at a hospital in PE.

Departmental Spokesperson Sizwe Kupelo said doctors and nurses are doing everything in their power to save the injured.

Kupelo said autopsies have been conducted on five of those who died and three of them have died from pulmonary embolism and another one died from diabetic related complications.

“I have to emphasise that the people that are in hospital are still in a very critical condition but stable” Kupelo added.
