The Democratic Alliance has called on President Jacob Zuma to explain to Parliament his Malawi diplomatic blunder.

On Monday President Zuma while addressing a crowd at Wits University said “We can’t think like Africans in Africa.  It’s not some national road in Malawi”.

The comment caused heated debate with President Zuma saying the comments were taken out of context.  DA Parliamentary Leader Lindiwe Mazibuko said these comments are unacceptable and an insult to South Africans and the people of Malawi.

Spokesperson for Mazibuko, Siviwe Gwarube said President Zuma needs to tread carefully with his off-the-cuff careless remarks which have now culminated in this highly embarrassing incident.

“It is now time for President Zuma to recognise that what he said was unacceptable, and stop his spin and apologise without delay, Gwarube added.
