SACP disappointed about the dismissal of the Deputy Minister of Health

The South African Communist Party (SACP) says it deeply regrets the dismissal of the Deputy Minister of Health, Nozizwe Madlala-Routledge.

Madlala-Routledge was fired by President Thabo Mbeki after going on an unauthorised trip to Spain at a cost of R160 000 at the state’s expense, to attend an international conference on the AIDS Vaccine Initiative.

“The circumstances under which she was dismissed goes against the spirit of the ANC and the SACP,” says SACP spokesperson Malesela Maleka.

Maleka added that Madlala-Routledge has always been pro working class and in favour of policies for the poor.

“If our views were been properly canvassed, we would have advised otherwise than the dismissal,” says Maleka.
