New Community Health Center opened in Stanford

A new Community Health Center now opened in Stanford. It can help 1500 patients and serve primary health care service to 900 people living in Stanford and the adjacent area’s.

The Health Center will be opened every weekday from 7:30 until 16:00. In the clinic is a pharmacy and personnel who is well trained in child health care.

Besides the pharmacist, a medical doctor will visit the Community Health Center twice a week. A dentist will be there once a month and the service of an oral hygienist is available every second week.

Services like wound care, TB treatment and HIV/AIDS, are available on certain days.
The Center is also focusing on a healthy lifestyle and prevention of diseases. The staff of the Health Center is trained to make patients aware of the dangers like bad eating habits, alcohol abuse and smoking.

The Department of Health also recently opened a Community Health Center in Swellendam. Next will be Tulbach and Montagu. The Department wants to upgrade the health facilities in a number of rural towns.
