Three wounded in a shootout between police and alleged drug dealers in Eester River

Three people have been injured in a shooting incident in Eester River.

Metro police members in three vehicles, with a search warrant pull up infront of a well known drug house, after receiving information of alleged illegal activities.

Police spokesperson Inspector November Filander says a red Toyota Carolla with four occupants was busy reversing out of the yard when Metro police members identified themselves.

“The driver of the red Toyota Carolla jumped out of the vehicle and fired several shots at them, and they returned fire, injuring two suspects, aged 27 and 37.

“They also seized an illegal 9mm pistol. A 42 year old bystander was also injured. They were all taken to a nearby hospital, with the suspects placed under police guard. Their condition is unknown at this stage”, said Inspector November Filander.

Filander added that a case of attempted murder and possession of illegal firearm has been opened and the four suspects will appear in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court on the 18 of January 2010.
