As the price of all grades of petrol rose by 18-cents a litre last night motorists queued at filling stations across the country.
Diesel prices went up by 10-cents a litre, the retail price of paraffin also rose by six-cents a litre.
On the other transport Minister Sibusiso Ndebele has conveyed his condolences to the families of more than 20 people killed on the country's roads over the past day.
The minister expressed concern after a spate of accidents claimed several lives and left scores injured in Johannesburg, Limpopo and KwaZulu-Natal.
The minister’s spokesperson Logan Maistry said law enforcement agencies have been instructed to step up their actions.
