Taxi driver found dead on Symphony Way, Delft

Police are investigating a case of murder and vehicle theft after an Angolan national was found dead on Symphony Way in Delft on Tuesday.

The victim, a taxi driver residing in Maitland, left for work the day before but did not return home.

The deceased has been identified as 41 year old Nodoseta Lubaki.
Lubaki was self employed and operated from the Long Street Rank in the CBD.

He did not return home that night, and was last seen en route to Sea Point.

On Wednesday, his cousin reported him missing.

“On Tuesday at 20:30 police received a report of an unknown male found dead in the bushes next to Symphony Way Delft South.

“According to the Investigating Officer, Detective Constable Pieter Bonthuys the deceased died as a result of a gunshot wound to his chest, and no form of identification was retrieved from his person,” says Captain Joe Wilson.

The body of Lubaki was identified yesterday by his cousin at the Tygerberg mortuary.

Detective Constable Bonthuys said that information indicates that the deceased was in possession of a Black Nokia T350, which is still missing.

The vehicle he was traveling in (dark grey Mazda 323) was also not recovered.
