A 20 year old man has been prevented from committing suicide by Cape Town Traffic Officer.
Traffic Services spokesperson Kevin Jacobs says acting Inspector Pieter Groenewald was travelling along the R300 when he noticed pedestrian activity on the bridge overlooking Frans Conradie Drive.
“The officer spoke to the young man who was visibly emotional, and attempted to discourage him from committing suicide.
“The officer did not think about the fact that the force of the young man’s jump could have pulled him over the edge as well. The young man was then handed over to the South African Police Services who arrived at the scene, and was taken to the Brackenfell Police Station,” said Kevin Jacobs.
Jacobs added that the acting Inspector who saved the man visited the Brackenfell Police Station later that day to check on the condition of the young man.
