The Congress of South African Trade Unions is concerned about the heavy representation of business people in the newly-appointed National Planning Commission.
Cosatu says business people make up nearly half of the NPC.
Spokesperson Patrick Craven says Cosatu is pleased that three of its nominations, Chris Malikane, Vivienne Taylor and Karl von Holdt, will be serving on the commission.
But Cosatu remains concerned that what it sees as the imbalance within the NPC would misrepresent the needs of the majority.
“We are concerned that as a whole civil society is underrepresented, which raises concerns about whether the national plan will fairly reflect the needs and aspirations of the majority,” said Craven.
