Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa has confirmed that it will suspend its services as of Monday.
This means thousands of commuters who are using Metrorail services will be left stranded across the country.
PRASA Acting CEO Tumisang Kgaboesele says this follows after the company was issued with a strike warning by SATAWU and UTATU workers.
The workers are demanding among other things the 15% salary increase while the employer is offering only 11%.
The workers will join thousands of Transet workers who embarked on the industrial action since the beginning of this week.
