The Metshimaholo Municipality in the Free State has reinstated 91 workers for illegally taking part in a three-week-long public servant’s strike last year.
The employees who were fired earlier this week were given written warnings.
SAMWU spokesperson Tahir Sema says, “The union are pleased with the reinstatement of its members.”
The South African Municipal Workers’ Union threatened a nationwide strike in solidarity with the workers if the Municipality did not reinstate them.
