Weeks of speculation has ended after Communications Minister, Roy Padayachie revealed details about South Africa’s planned switch to digital television.
Roy Padayachie said in Midrand today “South Africa will adopt the digital television standard DVB-T2 and the country will complete the process of migrating from analogue to digital television by December 2012”.
Cabinet has examined two European broadcasting standards and one Japanese standard.
The minister hopes the switch from analogue to digital TV will happen by 2015.
