Questions are being asked after two Crime Intelligence officers were robbed in Johannesburg after they had made a large bank withdrawal from a police account on Friday.

They were ambushed at a highway off-ramp and robbed of R2 million.

The attackers reportedly held up the officers at gun point and forced them to open the boot of the car to get to the money.

The officers had apparently not been armed and had not had a security escort. The Hawks are searching for the suspects.
