Three people have been arrested after they were found with copper worth R2.4 million in Bracknfell.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut says the three were caught red handed at a scrap yard in Brackenfell this morning trying to sell the stolen copper.
Members of the South African Police Service’s of the Western Cape Flash received information from a scrap dealer in Botlary Road Brackenfell that five suspects approached him to buy the copper
“Upon their arrival, the SAPS members apprehended three of the suspects all aged in their thirties, while two suspects managed to flee the scene.
“The copper, which is suspected to have been stolen from a storage facility, as it appears to be unused, was seized and the circumstances and the origin of the copper are now being investigated,” said Traut.
He added that the suspects are detained until their court appearance, once they have been charged.
