Crime reduction discussed at quarterly meeting

Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa said information sharing amongst provinces is crucial and is has assisted in crime reduction.

This emerged during a quarterly meeting between the Minister of Police Nathi Mthethwa and all MECs responsible for policing held in Cape Town last week. 

The meeting noted that timely and accurate assessment of crime trends played a crucial role in combating crime. 

Ministerial Spokesperson Zweli Mnisi said the Minister discussed various crime categories, sexual crimes which have been on the increase.

He added that strategies to fight crime were also discussed at the meeting.
