Shareholder committee members of the Road Traffic Management Corporation have called for RTMC to shut down.

MEC for Transport and Public Works Robin Carlisle who is a member of the committee said that a unanimous decision was taken last month to ask for the closure of the RTMC.

MEC Carlisle said the Minister of Transport Ben Martins will decide when the agency will close and where it will fit into the transport system.

Carlisle added that the body itself was not achieving anything, it was duplicating certain functions of other parts of the department.

Carlisle further added that bankruptcy and trading risk service led to the closure of the RTMC.

“At the last meeting of the RTMC a paper was put before us indicating options of that we can consider with regards to the RTMC one of which was to close it down.” Carlisle added.
