Zandvlei community warned of contaminated water

The residents of the Zandvlei community near Macassar have been warned not to use the Zandvlei river system which runs through Kulis River because it is contaminated. 

Councillor Anwar Adams said he was contacted by the residents of Zandvlei on the 3rd of September asking for assistance regarding the matter. 

The water was then tested and it was found that the water was contaminated. 

Adams said the water poses serious health risk.  He said at the point affluent flow from the beginning to the middle and to where it meets up with the fresh water it is contaminated.
 
He added that  he has put out an alert to the community that no one should go near the water.
