On Thursday in a press briefing the ANC expressed their distaste on the closures of 27 schools in the Western Cape.

The ANC's Millicent Tingwe said it is becoming clearer to the ANC that the DA does not care for poor and vulnerable people.

She stated that the DA has made a mess of education in the province, which is riddled with shortages of teaching staff, teaching aids and learner material, facilities and equipment like desks and chairs.

Tingwe highlighted that the DA built 23 schools and want to close 27 schools in one year.

The province has a shortage of 60 schools.

The ANC has come out saying that there is no real commitment to tackle the problem.

Tingwe said the DA is only putting a plaster strip on the wound and not dealing with the causes.

ANC members held a picket outside the Provincial Building in Wale Street in Cape Town.

Protesters were shouting "Save our schools" in anger at the MEC for Education in the Western Cape who they dubbed as Donald Duck.

One Protester from Malawi Camp in Bishop Lavis Angelo said drugs is high in SA, killing is high, stealing is high.

He added that Western Cape Premier Helen Zille has made many promises which has not yet been met, but when it comes time to vote then she wants to smile and when the vote is finished its goodbye we don't know you.

Another protester from Bishop Lavis Veronica said that Grant is really a Donald Duck.

He added that how can one close down schools.
