President Jacob Zuma has extended his condolences to the families of the 18 people who died in the collision between a school bus and a minibus taxi near Cradock in the Eastern Cape.

The principal of the Cradock Primary School and at least one pupil were among the dead.

It is now believed that the other child victim could have been flung from the minibus into the school bus.

Fourteen people were seriously injured. Zuma says the numbers of deaths on South African roads are unacceptable.
