The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) in the North West was expected to protest on Wednesday outside the Rustenberg Court.

The protest is part of a campaign to protect women and children.

Cosatu is also calling on prosecutors to take serious action against those who have behaved incorrectly towards women and children.

Cosatu’s North West Provincial North West Secretary Solly Phetoe said a man raped an 11-year-old girl in 2009 and the case was delayed.

He added that here they are now picketing and demonstrating that the bail of the perpetrator must be withdrawn.
