There is new hope for TB patients, including those who are HIV-positive.

The TB Alliance announced the findings of its clinical trial conducted in Cape Town at the International Aids Conference in Washington DC.

The trial was headed by Professor Andreas Diacon of the University of Stellenbosch.

The Alliance says its new combination of drugs kills 99-percent of TB bacteria within two weeks and cuts the cost and time of treating the disease.
