On Wednesday the Lotus River Community Health Centre planned to host a career day for the youth.

Universities and colleges, skills and development agencies and other organisations will be present to showcase career opportunities.

Western Cape Government Health Spokesperson Sithembiso Magubane said the community of Lotus River has expressed their concern over the sharp increase of youth experimenting with substances and sexual activities at a young age.

He added that this had led to higher incidents of crime, unemployment, school drop outs, teenage pregnancy and STI’s and HIV.
