The brine levels in frozen chicken in South African have no known health risk to consumers.

This is the response by the managing director of health and Sanitation Company Ecowize’s Gareth Lloyd-Jones said in a response to the Association of Meat Importers and Exporters statement which says brine injected into chickens is a health threat.

He added that consumers are informed of the brine content on the labelling.

Lloyd-Jones said if you look at the sodium levels in chicken, it’s lower than that of a loaf of bread.
