The Democratic Alliance said following the release of the Carbon Tax Policy Paper on Thursday, the DA will oppose any tax increases over the three-year budget cycle and until South Africa’s economic growth recovers.

DA MP of Finance Tim Harris said National Treasury should priorities opening up the electricity grid and the promotion of independent power producers in the renewable energy sector.

Harris said the DA believes that there should be a move to a lower carbon economy by introducing a tax to get SA to the top.
