Wstern Cape traffic officials arrest one for possession of drugs

Western Cape traffic officials
said on Saturday 11 drunk drivers were arrested in more than a dozen roadblocks
across the province within a period of 24 hours.
Africa said the highest
speed recorded in the Western Cape at the weekend was
166 kilomteres and hour in a 120 zone.
Two people were also arrested for reckless
driving in Swellendam and Beaufort West.

said one person was also arrested in Vredenburg for being in the possession of drugs
to the value of R19, 000.
Furthermore Africa said they arrested
one person in Beaufort West for being in possession of a stolen vehicle and
this driver was kept at the police station in Beaufort West and they also confiscated
the vehicle.
“The fines that we issued at these road blocks
was R73 400 and we also screened vehicles for speeding and 3 832 vehicles
was tested of which we prosecuted 4 33 drivers for exceeding the speed limit,”
said Africa .
