The Congress of South African Trade Union said they want to see labour brokers banned completely.

Cosatu Spokesperson Patrick Craven said the Department of Labour cannot enforce current regulation of employment conditions and safety alone.

Craven said contrary to the claims by Free Market Foundation and the Democratic Alliance labour brokers do not create jobs.

Craven said the workers can be bought and sold as commodities and as Cosatu they welcome the improvements which the ANC government wishes to make in regulations.

“We want to see labour brokers banned completely and the concession of saying they can operate the periods of three months is not really an improvement at all because it workers open to the danger” added Craven.
