Police constable shot and killed in Strand

An off-duty police officer was shot dead in Lwandle near Strand on Tuesday evening, while he was on his way home. 

The motive for the killing is unknown at this stage but police are investigating. 

This is the second officer killed in the country this month alone, the other one was Senior Johannesburg Officer Tirhani Maswanganyi whose body was found dumped and bound outside Pretoria.

Police Spokesperson Andre Traut said two suspects aged 30 and 36 were arrested.

“The police constable was shot and killed at approximately 01:30 In Strand,” adde Traut.

Traut also said that circumstances surrounding the matte are being investigated.
