The Democratic Alliance has called on the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Maite Nkoana Mashabane to distance herself and the government from Cosatu’s planned anti-Obama demonstrations.

Cosatu’s international relations secretary, Bongani Mosuku said they were particularly disappointed by the Obama administration’s record in continuing the appalling US foreign policy performance.

DA MP of International Relations and Cooperation Ian Davidson said government needs to sort itself out.

“Cosatu is part of government and yet President Obama is a guest of government; so you have one arm of government is protesting his presence and the other arm welcoming him as a guest.

“I do hope the minister distances herself” Davidson added.
