MEC Fritz said national government should not interfere with provincial government

Western Cape MEC of Social Development Albert Fritz on Friday said national government is interfering in matters over which the provincial government should have control.

This comment follows an incident regarding a national youth camp organised by government.

MEC Fritz said it is disappointing that government during youth month will play political games at the expense of the youth.

Frtiz said that they received an email from national department saying they have chosen the 100 people in the province, and that the provincial department has to provide food for the trip for the youth to go.

The provincial department had already chosen 100 people to go to the camp, which is embarrassing because nothing was planned on time; everything comes at the last minute.

“We think this kind of interference doesn’t work, we are all for working with national government to make a bigger impact in the province, and not to fight with government; but this type of interference doesn’t work” Fritz added.
