Media briefed on President Barrack Obama`a visit

The Minister of International Relations and Cooporations Maite Nkoana Mashabane on Tuesday held a media briefing in Pretoria whereby she focussed on important aspects in the implementation of South African foreign policy objectives.

Nkoana Mashabane also focused on President Obama’s visit to South Africa this weekend and provided feedback on her visit last week to Europe. Nkoana Mashabane explains.

Nkoana Mashabane said in line with our Strategic Partnership signed in 2010, relations between South Africa and the United States are solid, strong and positive. The Obama Administration has expressed interest to partner with South Africa domestically and regionally.

US President Barrack Obama is expected in South Africa on Friday in his three African state visit.

The Congress of South African Trade Unions and its affiliates have threatened to staged protests on Friday aimed at showing their dissatisfaction in Osama’s visit to the country.

Meanwhile the Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies, will also address the media on the United States - South Africa trade relations ahead of President Barrack Obama’s visit this week.

Spokesperson Sidwell Madupe said Minister Davies will highlight the importance of President Obama’s visit in relation to Trade and Investment and also portray South Africa as an investment destination of choice.
