The Democratic Alliance said the African National Congress’s refusal to reform labour framework is killing jobs.
StatsSA revealed that the mining sector in general shed 8 000 jobs between the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2012.
The DA said urgent and drastic reform of South Africa ’s labour relations framework is a key step in addressing the underlying causes of the labour unrest in mining sector.
DA’s Research and Communications Officer Ryno Geldenhuys said government is trying to sort out the problem, yet is failing to address the necessary amendments in the labour reform framework.
He added that the DA will be working with other parties and also all stakeholders in the sector in trying to reach a solution.
