The National Employers Association of South Africa said a nationwide strike in the metal industry is looming.
Employers are offering 6.5 percent wage increase while the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa is demanding a 15 percent wage increase.
Neasa said far reaching wage demands will
ultimately lead to job loses.
Neasa Spokesperson Sya van der Walt said the
associations have deadlocked and that means heading for the strike on the 1st
of July and this will be done in the best interest of workers.
She added that there also a need to go around the country and find from the workers if they want the strike or not and a decision will be taken from there.
