The Southern African Clothing and Textile Workers Union has settled the footwear wage strike dispute.

The settlement package is 8 percent covering a wage increase and improved annual bonus.

Sactwu’s Footwear Sector National Co-ordinator Nazir Armoed said the new wage increase will come into effect on the 1st of July and will benefit about 7 000 workers employed in the footwear factories nationally.

Armoed said our members were happy with the offer put on the table which was an improvement of the past offer that SACTWU requested.

“When sent out a note to SACTWU that all workers will commence on the 23rd as all our members have accepted the offer and all will be back at work Armoed added.
