Eastern Cape police together with the Hawks arrested three suspects aged between 33 and 56-years-old for stealing and being in possession of R60 000 worth of tyres in Scenery Park.

Police followed up on information regarding stolen tyres which were being stored in a shack in the area.

Captain Stephen Marais said Police closed in on the shack and arrested one suspect who was inside with all the alleged stolen tyres. Thirty  brand new tyres of various sizes were recovered.

Marais said Police questioned the 33-year-old suspect.

Marais said at about the same time police received information that the blue Toyota Tazz was heading back to the shack after delivering two Jeep Tyres.

Marais said Members from the TRT swooped down on the vehicle and managed to arrest the two occupants inside the vehicle aged 34 and 56 years.

Marais said the police learnt the tyres were already sold and that the identified premise was a temporary storage place for delivery to different buyers.

Marais said Police questioned the suspects individually and obtained more information that can help break the case.

Marais said the 56-year-old suspect provided information to the police members about where he stole the tyres from and has identified a tyre- business in East London.

“A happy owner recovered all his stolen goods and the three suspects were charged and detained at Scenery Park Police Station for possession of suspected stolen property Marais added.
