Western Cape MEC of Transport and Public Works Donald Grant and Provincial traffic Chief Kenny Africa will today launch the operational plan for the festive season.

Since the beginning of 2009, the department has cut the provincial death rate down by 30.1%. Ministerial Spokesperson Siphesihle Dube said this will govern operations moving into very busy festive season.

Dube said the MEC and the Chief urges all road users to join government in making sure that our roads are safe over this festive season.

Dube said to ensure that they don’t drink and drive, they don’t speed, they are extra mindful of pedestrians who make up almost half of the fatalities on our roads.

“To not use cell phones while driving and ensure that whenever they enter a vehicle and all occupants enter the vehicle that they are always buckled up Dube added.
