A 50 year old man died in a car crash in Randfontein

An accident this morning in Randfontein, west of Johannesburg left a 50-year-old man dead.

This is after his vehicle crashed into a residence wall.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said when ER24 paramedics arrived on scene, they found a wrecked light motor vehicle up against a residence wall. The body of a male lay trapped in his vehicle.

Meiring added that paramedics began their treatment of the patient while fire services used the jaws-of-life equipment to free the man in a 30 minute operation. Once freed, paramedics provided the patient with advanced life support interventions and transported him to Laratong Hospital for urgent treatment.

He also said that unfortunately, the patient was declared dead upon arrival at hospital.

The exact details to the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
