Members of the Hawks Organized Crime Unit arrested six people for dealing in drugs in two separate incidents this past week.
In the first incident on Tuesday, police received information about illegal drug-related activities at a house in Cedar Street, Thornton, Pinelands.
“At about 08:00 police swooped on the house. An assortment of Tik was found in one of the bedrooms, while other Tik was confiscated from the vehicle,” said Inspector November Filander.
The estimated street value of all the Tik was R200 000. An additional R30 000 in cash was also found in the house.
Investigators also seized a vehicle and arrested a 30-year-old male for dealing in drugs.
The suspect appeared in the Goodwood Magistrates’ Court yesterday and will remain in police custody.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, information gathered by police led to the arrest of five people at a shopping mall in Mitchells Plain for dealing in drugs.
Filander says the well-planned, intelligence-driven police operation led to the arrest of two females and three males, aged between 25 and 47, in possession of Tik with an estimated street value of R150 000.
They also seized R10 000 in cash and two vehicles.
The suspects appeared in the Mitchells Plain Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
