Security officials at a Verulam shopping centre in Kwa-Zulu Natal have made a gruesome discovery this morning.
The officials found a new born baby wrapped in a blanket in an apple box.
They immediately alerted paramedics.
Spokesperson Jeff Wicks says on their arrival at the scene they assessed the child, who was mildly hypothermic and his oxygen saturation was slightly low.
The boy was transported by ambulance to the Osindisweni government hospital for further care.
Police are currently investigating the incident.
