Six arrested for dealing in drugs

Police’s Organized Crime Unit known as the HAWKS arrested six people for dealing in drugs in two separate incidents over the past two days.

In the first incident on Tuesday police received information about illegal drug-related activities at a house in Cedar Street, Thornton, Pinelands.

Tik with an estimated value of R200 000 was confiscated.

Police spokesperson Inspector November Filander says Investigators also seized a black IR32 VW Golf and arrested a 30-year-old male for dealing in drugs.

“The suspect appeared in the Goodwood Magistrates’ Court this morning and will remain in custody,” said Filander.

Filander says in the second incident yesterday afternoon a well-planned, intelligence-driven police operation led to the arrest of two females and three males, aged between 25 and 4 at a shopping mall in Mitchells Plain.

“The suspects were arrested after found in possession of Tik with an estimated street value of R150 000.

Police also seized R10 000 in cash and seized two vehicles; a dark blue Mercedes Benz Compressor and a gold Opel Kadette,” added Filander.

The suspects will appear in the Mitchells Plain Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
