A four year old girl tragically died after she was knocked down by a bakkie on the R103 in the area of Ashburn close to the Lynnfield off ramp in KwaZulu- Natal.

ER24 Spokesperson Vanessa Jackson said a group of young children were allegedly playing together near the road where a few informal houses have been set up.

“She looks like she was trying to run across the road. The circumstances are still investigated but when paramedics arrived on scene they found the remains of a four year old girl lying in the road, and tragically there was nothing further they could do to save her life. She was declared dead on the scene,” Jackson added

Meanwhile in another accident a vehicle collided into the back of a truck on the N2.

The truck appeared to have just come into the N2 south from the Nandi drive when the light motor vehicle crashed into the back of it.

ER24 Spokesperson Vanessa Jackson said the driver was in critical condition entrapped in a vehicle.

“They managed to stabilised him on scene. The man was safely removed form wreckage and was transported to a nearby hospital for further care.” Jackson added.

It is still being investigated as to what took place leading to the collision.
