Paramedics said two people died in a
head-on collision in Cape Town on Saturday night.
ER24 spokesman Werner Vermaak said the
accident happened at on Baden Powell Drive near the Monwabisi
Resort.
Vermaak said among the injured was a five
year old girl which was taken top the Red Cross Children’s hospital for further
medical care.
“The local fire department had to use the Jaws
of Life to free one of the trapped victims from the vehicle,” added Vermaak.
He said that the exact cause of the accident and preceding events are unknown at this stage and will be investigated by the local traffic police.
Meanwhile Six people were killed in a head-on collision in
Magaliesburg overnight.
The cause of the accident is still not clear but emergency
services said the two cars collided on Koster road just before midnight .
Netcare 911's Chris Botha said upon their arrival five
people had already died.
“There was a sixth person that was in a very critical condition, paramedics extricated the man and then resuscitated him for quite some time,” added Botha.
He also added that the man then tragically died in scene due
to the very extensive injuries that he sustained.
