The Congress of South African Trade Union in the Western Cape said it will be hosting a Procurement Conference on Monday.

Cosatu Provincial Secretary Tony Ehrenreich said the provincial government is not participating in the conference because they have generally been defending the generational advantages of white suppliers in the province.

Ehrenreich said that in the moment in the Western Cape is it mainly focuses on white business and the provincial has consciously promoted this and wants to keep that in place.

“That is why the provincial government is not supporting this conference because they intend on maintaining white privilege in the Western Cape,” added Ehrenreich.

He also said that as Cosatu they are going to fight with black businesses to ensure that there is a transformed economy in the Western Cape that provides opportunities to everyone and not only to established whites.
