Western Cape MEC of Finance, Economic Development and Tourism Alan Winde said the province is partnering with French island Reunion to boost innovation in the province’s R12 billion agro-processing industry.

He added that South Africa and France have an ongoing partnership and the Western Cape is using this 3rd Innovation Symposium which takes place in November as one of those areas where they can look to find common ground.

MEC Winde added that at the moment they employ about 50 000 people in the agro-processing space and trying through innovation to find new ways of becoming competitive.

“This will help us employ more people and grow the number of companies getting their products into the world market and the French market” emphasised Winde.
