Inkatha Freedom Party chief whip Koos van der Merwe has accused the ANC government of vandalising Afrikaans.
He says the latest example of this is the government placing six full pages of advertising for vacant positions in an Afrikaans newspaper only in English.
Van der Merwe says the IFP will host a language forum later this year to debate issues around the erosion of mother tongue languages.
He added that maybe the government wants to eliminate Afrikaans speaking people from applying for positions.
Van der Merwe says this is not the only way that the ANC government is vandalizing Afrikaans culture but also at schools where Afrikaans schools are becoming English.
