The Congress of South African Trade Unions General Secretary Zwelinzima Vavi said that they were facing a massive challenge with the emerging unions.

Vavi refered to the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union as a worrying factor after the Union was alleged to have organised the strike at Lonmin`s Marikana mine.

The strike led to the death of 44 people, including two police officers.

Cosatu President Sdumo Dlamini on Friday strongly critisised workers who carry weapons during a strike.

Vavi urged the miners to remain united, even if there are those individuals trying to devide them.
