President Jacob Zuma has named retired judge of the Supreme Court of Appeal, Ian Farlam, as chairman of the judicial commission of inquiry into the recent massacre at Lonmin's Marikana platinum mine in the North West.
Senior advocates Bantubonke Tokota and Pinglar Hemraj will assist him.
The commission must look into the actions of Lonmin, the police and the unions NUM and Amcu and the role of the Department of Mineral Resources.
Zuma says the commission will be given four months to complete its investigation.
