The SPCA has laid a charge of animal abuse against the Limpopo department of sports, Arts and Culture.

This comes after 34 thin cattle in the province had to be put down.

SPCA inspector Anton de Bruyn said the cows were found dying of hunger and thirst at the Muti Wa Vatsonga open air museum in Limpopo.

A tourist who visited the museum notified the SPCA about the appalling condition of the animals that had reportedly been without cattle feed for a month.

Anton de Bruyn said that the necessary will be taken against the Department, because they refused to co-operate in the discussion with regards to the matter.
