The South African Clothing and Textile Workers Union has set its self a target to strike ballot 40 000 clothing industry workers.
This follows a wage dispute with clothing sector employees.
SACTWU’s General Secretary Andre Kriel said a total of 43 104 workers were balloted and 84 percent voted in favour of a strike action.
Kriel added that a strike action may no longer be necessary now, after a meeting with some of the employers.
He added that the decision to strike has been suspended until the next negotiations are complete.
